High-performance oil-sealed vacuum pump for industrial and laboratory use - Ultrahigh Vacuum Solutions LLP

At Ultrahivac, we specialize in delivering high-performance oil-sealed rotary vacuum pumps designed for precision, durability, and efficiency across diverse industries. From manufacturing and R&D laboratories to packaging and coating applications, these pumps are the backbone of vacuum-based processes that demand consistent results.

Oil-sealed rotary vacuum pumps are positive displacement pumps that use oil for sealing, lubrication, and cooling during operation. The oil creates an airtight seal between moving parts, ensuring smooth performance and achieving deeper vacuum levels compared to dry pumps.

They are known for:

  • High reliability and long operational life
  • Excellent performance in the low to medium vacuum range
  • Cost-effective maintenance and easy operation
  • Consistent results even under demanding industrial conditions

Ultrahivac Oil-Sealed Rotary Vacuum Pump Range

At Ultrahivac, we offer a complete range of oil-sealed rotary pumps engineered for various vacuum levels and application requirements.

Single-stage rotary vane vacuum pump for industrial and laboratory applications - Ultrahigh Vacuum Solutions LLP

Ideal for everyday vacuum operations, our single-stage rotary vane pumps are designed for simplicity and durability.
Key benefits:

  • Compact and robust construction
  • Efficient for medium vacuum applications
  • Low noise and vibration
  • Easy oil maintenance

Applications:
Packaging, plastics, food processing, medical suction systems, and general industrial vacuum tasks.

When deeper vacuum levels are required, the double-stage rotary vane pump delivers. It utilizes two compression stages to achieve higher vacuum efficiency and lower ultimate pressures.
Key benefits:

  • Achieves higher vacuum (up to 0.005 mbar)
  • Smooth and quiet operation
  • Thermal protection and oil filtration for reliability
  • Compact and energy-efficient design

Applications:
Research laboratories, coating and metallizing, solar and semiconductor industries, and vacuum drying systems.

Durable oil-sealed vacuum pump for industrial, research, and laboratory applications - Ultrahigh Vacuum Solutions LLP
Rotary screw vacuum pumps for industrial and laboratory applications - Ultrahigh Vacuum Solutions LLP

The rotary screw vacuum pump is engineered for continuous, heavy-duty operations where high pumping speeds are required. Two intermeshing screw rotors compress the gas efficiently, with oil acting as both a sealant and coolant.
Key benefits:

  • High pumping capacity and low vibration
  • Suitable for 24/7 operation
  • Minimal wear and low maintenance
  • Long service life and energy efficiency

Applications:
Central vacuum systems, industrial automation, process industries, and large-scale manufacturing setups.

For specialized high-vacuum requirements, Ultrahivac offers robust rotary piston vacuum pumps. These pumps use a reciprocating piston mechanism, sealed and lubricated with oil, to achieve precise vacuum performance.
Key benefits:

  • Reliable and durable for long-term operation
  • Handles higher vacuum levels effectively
  • Minimal leakage and high compression efficiency

Applications:
Vacuum furnaces, metallurgical processing, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, and research facilities.

This is a great overview of rotary pumps. We are currently using a dual-stage oil-sealed pump for a vacuum drying application, but we’re struggling with oil emulsification due to high water vapor intake. We’ve been using the gas ballast, but it doesn’t seem to be enough to clear the oil sight glass. Should we be looking into an external oil filtration system, or is there a specific grade of vacuum oil that handles moisture better without losing viscosity?

    1. Thank you for the detailed question. Oil emulsification is the most common cause of premature pump failure in vacuum drying, especially when dealing with high moisture loads.

When the gas ballast is no longer sufficient, it usually means the water vapor is condensing into the oil faster than the ballast can ‘sweep’ it out. This significantly reduces the pump’s ability to reach its ultimate vacuum and can lead to internal corrosion.

Here is our recommended protocol at Ultrahivac:

Upgrade to Hydro-Treated or Synthetic Oils: Standard mineral oils (like ISO VG 68 or 100) emulsify quickly. We recommend switching to a semi-synthetic or full synthetic vacuum oil (e.g., Edwards Ultragrade). These are engineered with better water-separation properties, allowing the water to settle at the bottom of the casing rather than mixing with the oil.

Inlet Condensation (Cold Traps): Before investing in a filtration system, consider installing an Inlet Cold Trap or a Condenser. By capturing the moisture before it enters the pump, you keep the oil clean and extend your service intervals by up to 400%.

Exhaust Management: Ensure your exhaust line is slightly sloped away from the pump. Sometimes, condensed water in the exhaust pipe drains back into the pump casing, causing a ‘false’ emulsification issue.

If your process requires 24/7 operation, an External Oil Purifier is a wise investment. It continuously removes water and particulates, maintaining oil viscosity without stopping the process.
